My name is Gene Check. I’ve been using the name “Real Outdoors Co” since the early 1990’s. This is my publishing company.

I am an outdoorsman at heart. I have made my living from the outdoors for over 30 years now. I mostly trap crayfish these days. However in the past I also have been known to trap Turtles, Beaver, Muskrat, and more.

Whether I’m trapping crayfish, writing a book, or traveling to do research, adventure is usually on my agenda.
